This is a copy of a map of the Isle of Wight by John Speed and was initially printed in the 1600's. There is also a small plan of Southampton and of Newport on the map. The map is beautiful, the colours are vibrant and overall it's in excellent condition.

The map was first published in Wallis's "New Pocket Edition of the English Counties." first published in 1812. I believe that the addition of the plate number 17, top right, indicates that this is from the slightly later 1814 edition.
