Description: Source unknown, to be determined. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'F. Piloty' after 'Jacques Callot'. Ferdinand Piloty (1786-1844) was active in Munich. He worked together with Strixner making the "Oeuvres Lithographiques" with lithographs after drawings by famous masters. This very early project in lithography produced very fine specimens of the new technique. Jacques Callot (Nancy 1592-1635) was a famous baroque printmaker and draftsman from Lorraine / present day France. He was active in Italy employed by Cosimo II de Medici until 1621. He is an important figure in the development of the old master print and highly popular in the 17th. century.
