In 1886 he produced ‘Vase With Anemone', a predominantly realist depiction of a bouquet of flowers. However, Van Gogh incorporated his love of colour by contrasting the yellow daisies with a blue vase and mixing red paint into the background to reflect the red flowers in the bouquet.
