The unit has a classic needle speedo that shows MPH up to 120. The needle on the gauge indicates the SOG (Speed Over Ground) when vehicle is moving. While vehicle is not moving all the data is frozen, so the compass cannot be used as a reference until the boat begins to move again and the signal is recovered.
