‘Prince Alexy Haimatoff’ after Douglas Percy Bliss; 1900-1984,Scottish painter and art conservationist. Born in Karachi, India, Bliss was raised in Edinburgh. Contemporary and friend of Eric Ravilious and Edward Bawden. As Director of the Glasgow School of Art, Bliss was instrumental in saving much of the Art Nouveau architecture and furniture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. A fine bookplate woodblock print with black ink lines and block impression, the image printed on a wove paper sheet size of 13 cm x 22 cm (5 x 8¾ ins.) Printed for 'Memoirs of Prince Alexy Haimatoff' by Thomas Hogg 1952. (Not a modern reproduction) Unframed and unmounted, blank on the reverse, the condition of the image and sheet is good with handling marks condusive with age.
