Frank Bowling Tony’s Anvil Extra Large Print

Frank Bowling Tony’s Anvil Extra Large Print Tony’s Anvil is another of Bowling’s ‘poured paintings’, created to push the boundaries of paint and painting. In 1973 he built a tilted platform that allowed him to pour paint from a height of up to two metres, and used it to create several pieces that sought to capture the experience and possibilities of paint. Rejecting definitions and metaphors, Bowling sought for an elusive feel in these works - ‘where the thing is really giving out a certain kind of information, and withholding so much, that it fascinates you’. Size 100 x 69.2 cm approx. printed on thick textured cotton paper Includes a 2.5-5cm approx white border Unframed
