A Stanley Bailey No 4 Smoothing plane. This is a type 16, made in USA, indicated by the body markings, rosewood handles, frog style and patent date behind the frog - the patent is for the development of the kidney shaped frog, and this model is the first to carry this new feature. It has been fully disassembled, cleaned (includes wire wheel clean of all small parts & screws) oiled, lapped and the iron sharpened. The handles have been rubbed down and refinished with shellac.
