This is a rare 19th century brass and iron wine bottle corker, most likely French in origin. The iron handle can be lifted up and pushed down, forcing the cork into a bottle. There is a screw to the brass casing, its purpose is to stop the iron bar from pulling out, the screw can be removed for cleaning and maintenance.
