These are used on pin fitting type shock absorbers to centralize the shock pin in its mounting bracket and help stop it wearing against the axle bracket. On later model rear axles these were fitted as standard and held in place with 4 spot welds, however they’re deeper than this version and limit flex when using long travel shocks which often results in the shock pin fracturing under high articulation.
