The remaining contents date from around 1900 onwards. Date: 1850–1935 (contents); box c.1885–1905. Originally, it would have been sold empty, hence the huge variation in date for the contents. The mix of dates is correct for a real family work-box: older tools kept and alongside newer essentials as fashions and materials changed.
