Mastic is the most flexible of the triterpene resins. It is translucent, yellowish in colour and slightly aromatic. It is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, turpentine, white spirit and in alcohol. It is usually used in the preparation of binders (mixed with wax or oil) and varnishes, by dipping a gauze with 100 gr.
