Fazit: For diehard fans and owners of Pokemon G/S. For others, you'll probably be disappointed by rental pokemon.
Pokemon is a tremendous fad, and I do not have any fear of admitting that I enjoy watching it and playing the games. Why do I give this only 3 stars then? Because it's only mediocre.
When you first look at the game, and even when you've played it: Other than 100 new pokemon, it's the same game! Yes, you can play your two new packs, and minigames, but the same game is underlying it. In fact, some of the mismatches between pokemon are actually heightened in this version.
If you have Red, Blue, and Yellow, you have a chance at beating this. Not the greatest chance, considering that to ideally beat it you have to have your pokemon about the same level, but you have a chance. If you have Gold and Silver, you've got a good chance, but still, have to have pokemon at even levels to be able to stand.
Without one of these games, you're doomed to rental pokemon. They are unextraordinary, have weak attacks, and are frequently pummelled by pokemon from the game that are 5-10 levels lower.
Thus, if you're a pokemon lover, have Gold or Silver, and don't have Pokemon Stadium, give this a shot. For all others, worth a rental or two.
