Fantastic price and functionality for my purposes

Fazit: Great if you don't have an HD TV and do not want to pay a monthly fee. May want an extended warranty based on some reliability problems others have had.
Having read the extensive reviews of other posters and generally agreeing with the pros and cons that have been written, I will add some notes for those that may have a projector set up.
I chose the Phillips instead of another Tivo Series 3 (the other set up in my house includes a Tivo Series 3 for recording and a Sony HD TV) because the Philips was a much lower price- $180 new on Ebay and NO subscription fee- and also because my projector is not an HD. Why pay for an HD recorder if your TV does not produce HD images?
I have Philips paired with an Optoma DV10 projector - $550 black Friday special-blown up onto a 120" screen.
The Philips adds a tuner to the setup so I can view and record digital TV.
The Philips ATSC/QAM tuner's picture quality- while not DVD quality- is very good despite the fact it's blown up so large and the DV10 does not include an HDMI jack (I used component video cables).
I'm sure that the picture quality would not please a true videophile, but it's definitely much better than any analog TV I have seen even though it's blown up onto a such a large screen.
In addition, the entire set up- projector, screen and DVR cost less than $1,000 for a theater like experience.
I have the unit hooked up to a Denon AVR-1801 and a decent 5.1 speaker system (probably an additional $700 total) and we are very, very happy with the viewing experience.
The Philips remote is terrible and because it is not backlit (which you need in a projection environment) I purchased a low end Harmony remote (backlit) which I use to control the entire system.
Because some posters have had problems with reliability, I also purchased a three year Square Trade warranty for less than $30.
Other posters have mentioned the lack of electronic programming, but if you record the same shows weekly like I do, this is not too big of an issue.
