I was in Neiman Marcus one day four years ago and received a sample of Marc Jacobs for Men. I fell in love with it and surprised my husband with a gift set which he wears everyday to work. The sale professional also gave me a sample of the perfume for women. I immediately tried it and received tons of compliments and ended up purchasing a full size bottle.
The fragrance is lovely florally blend, brimming with gardenias, my favorite floral scent. Feminine and florally, but not old ladyish or sickly sweet. It is light and refreshing: a perfect scent for daytime - maybe work or a brunch date. I spray two times - once on each wrist and blend behind my ears. There is a musky base note as well that is more apparent an hour after I apply it. Then I notice the scent smells a little muskier and sexier. Very heady, like I dove into a country garden. The muskiness seems to give the floral notes a modern edge, something that Marc does with his clothing as well. It makes the gardenia aspect something for the contemporary woman not something your grandmother would wear.
The official base notes are below:
The feminine scent blends:
Top notes of a floral bloom enhanced by touches of a leafy, watery accord.
A heart of sun-drenched gardenia flower enhanced by the warmth of wild muguet.
Rich, contemporary, sensual base notes, an intricate blend of skin musks and a dash of cedar and ginger.
The bottle itself is very simple and clean cut. It kind of reminds me of the Jo Malone bottles. Nothing fancy and trendy like some other designers use to package their perfume.
I like the whole concept of the perfume: feminine with a subtle sexiness.
Just as a side note - women seem to enjoy the scent of this perfume more than men. My husband and male friends don't nearly compliment it enough as my female friends or female strangers.
