Good for Office Work, Not for Gaming
Bewertet am: Sep 6, 2005
Fazit: For the usual office work and Web browsing, this monitor is as good as it gets. For image editing, it's not the best, but usable. No fast gaming though.
I got this monitor when they changed the screens in the office. For general-purpose work it is very good. It puts much less of a strain on the eyes than did my "old" CRT, which by the way also happened to be an LG. Resolution is excellent for the size. Viewing angles are good, you can make out what's on the screen from rather obscure angles, with the colours preserved, but it must be noted that brightness and contrast do change if you are not viewing it straight.
One of the best things about this monitor is that it can display rich, deep blacks like no other LCD that I have seen in this price range can. This is very good news if you intend to view photographs on it, especially b&w ones. Editing photos is a slightly different matter, for tonal transitions are noticeably coarser than on a good CRT. But it is still much better suited to the task than are most budget LCDs. (Perhaps it would be even better if its gamma could be adjusted in finer steps - currently it's only -50, 0 and +50).
One thing that this screen is probably not very good for, is gaming. I have noticed ghosting (or whaddaya call it) when scrolling content within windows. It's not objectionable, but if you are looking for a monitor which you can play fast action games on, then this product is not for you.
Also note that this monitor has not got a pivoting stand. You can tilt it 5 degrees forward and 20 degrees backward, but you cannot use it in portrait orientation. This is not a showstopper for me though - and I guess those who really need it, such as DTP guys, use more expensive screens anyway.
A big plus is that apparently it has some very good anti-reflex coating, because it is much easier to see when sunlight is flooding in through the windows than my CRT was.
