Unrealistic, Extreme, and Wild...the Perfect Soccer Game
Bewertet am: Jul 23, 2005
Fazit: If you want a game that is utterly cool yet utterly impossible and unrealistic, this is the game for you. Tricks, combos, street style...in my opinion, a fun game.
Because I am a soccer player, I own two soccer games on Playstation2. The first is Pro Evolution Soccer 4. The second is FIFA Street.
I know I am only supposed to write about the given topic. To describe the given topic, I feel I must make some comparisons to other ones, in order to capture the true essence of the game.
First, let me summarize Pro Evolution 4 very briefly and concisely. Look for my review on PE4 for more in depth information. PE4 is the best professional soccer sim in the world, in my opinion. The graphics and gameplay are far superior to any of the rival FIFA games. It accurately simulates professional soccer (i.e. the type of soccer played on a large field with RULES and REGULATIONS).
FIFA's professional soccer sims were not excellent, I thought - at least not in comparison to the Pro Evolution's. However, FIFA amazed me when I purchased this game. Pro Evolution has nothing to rival this game. This is original and fresh.
Without any prior knowledge as to the actual sport of soccer, one would have no idea these two games were simulating the same sport. Pro Evo 4 is tidy, straight forward, and simple. FIFA Street is wild, off the wall (you can even bounce the ball off the wall!) and ghetto.
FIFA Street works in a uniquely fun way. You start with a squad of maybe 10 players including yourself (a player who you customize and increase his stats using points, which you win from doing well in tournaments and games), a goalkeeper, two defenders, two midfielders, and two attackers. In each match, however, only 4 players actually play, one being your player, another being a goalie, and two other players of your choice.
By doing well in 'kickabouts' - a Street equivalent to a friendly match, you earn enough points to upgrade your player and enter tournaments. You eventually unlock new areas, and also new players. You can 'pay to play', meaning you pay a sum of money, sometimes 0 if the player i unlocked, to challenge a player's squad to a game, and if you win (first to 5 goals, same as a kickabout), you can replace one of the players from your squad with the challenged player. Eventually, you build a strong squad and earn reputation points, which are needed to enter tournaments also. You can also customize the attire of your players.
There are no rules in FIFA Street. Any tackle is accepted. The game revolves around tricks at the same time as goals, which makes it perhaps more fun to play.
The graphics are not as crisp as Pro Evolution 4. However, it will take you far longer to get bored with this game. You can try for combos, learn new tricks, and just play. You play how you dream you can play in real life, which is ideal for a game.
The rather short-lived soundtrack can get obnoxious, as well as repetitive commentating. But nothing that other games do any better in.
Also, I found that after playing for about a week, I can now beat any side no problem. Easy to master.
