Absolute Perfect Match: 20D and 17-85mm Lens
Bewertet am: Mai 15, 2005
Fazit: It is expensive, at least to me, but in the long run it's a must for any professional using the 20D, or digital rebel.
I don't know if I should be writing a review, but I will because I did buy the 20D kit with the 18-55mm lens, because it was an awesome deal. But, all in all, for about $1850, I got the 20D, the 18-55mm lens(which is OK), and the 17-85mm stabilizer lens--which is AWESOME! Ok, you might have read my other review, but I would like to say that this lens with this camera, is an absolute perfect match. Being a wedding photographer, you get priests who are stubborn about you using flash, so what do you do? Well, I suppose you could go all the way up to 3200 and shoot the wedding, but then it will be grainy. Use the 4-800 ISO setting, and adjust accordingly. I couldn't believe it when I shot with this camera, and lens that at 1/10th of a second(which is still pretty slow) it came out great!
I did a lot of testing last weekend with it, using RAW, and I had an awesome time doing so. The lens is very quiet, and the 28-135mm equivalence of a 35mm camera is a must. Especially if you are photographing big groups, formals at the weddings, wide areas--a must.
And, the lens going up to 85mm is a must for doing photographs where personal portraits are important,,such as the couple together, and you don't have to get into their face.
The image stabilizer that's on the 17-85mm lens is like having 2-3 stops faster than normal. So, for example, you want to shoot at normally, a 1/125th of a second, you can go down to, say, 1/15th without worrying about camera shake! Now, that's ingenious of Canon to make a lens! Like I said before, a must for a Professional Wedding Photographer, and other professionals; or, should, I say for anyone who takes photography seriously. Costs $600 by itself, like I said before, well worth the money!
